Adolescence, emerging adulthood and early adulthood:
Counseling can help support the transition from kid to grown-up. I have found this to be particularly true when, for whatever reason, your child isn’t or won’t listening to you (the parent) or you’re just not quite sure what to do.
Our kids are growing up in an environment very different from the one we remember - so different that a new stage of life, Emerging Adulthood, is being discussed to describe a period of time after adolescence yet clearly not quite early adulthood. While it’s an exciting time to be young, life has become increasingly stressful and confusing. Children today are exposed at a younger age to far more mature content than was available in prior generations, and they have to deal with an increasingly educated, technological, and global economy. I specialize in working with teenagers up through their early 20’s and into adulthood, helping them cope with the myriad of new and evolving challenges including but not limited to:

Relationship growthMaking and adapting to changing relationships – with peers, parents, teachers, bosses, and strangers. Despite an explosion of communication tools people are lonelier and feel less interpersonally connected.

LaunchingLearning skills to cope with the world with greater autonomy – emotional coping skills, negotiating decision making, assertiveness, avoiding procrastination, and taking on responsibilities necessary to achieve independence and self-reliance.
